abstract = {High statistics of divorce among couples at the early years of their joint life shows that wrong mate selection is one of the influential factors for maladjustment and misunderstanding between couples. Accordingly, mate selection is regarded a decisive stage in every individual's life. Using a descriptive-analytical method, the present paper discusses the theory of homogamy, the hypothesis of similarity, the theory of complementary needs, and the theory of exchange. Then it reviews and criticizes them. In addition to empirical findings, Islamic sources are used to criticize these views. It seems that religious homogamy, harmony in religiosity of spouses and other moral characteristics such as chastity are emphasized in Islamic view, while other dimensions of homogamy are deemphasized.

abstract_fa ={آمار بالای طلاق زوجین در سال های آغازین زندگی، نشانگر این است که انتخاب ناصحیح یکی از عوامل مؤثر در ناسازگاری و عدم تفاهم همسران محسوب می شود. بر این اساس، انتخاب همسر مرحله ای سرنوشت ساز در زندگی هر فرد به شمار می رود. در خصوص همسرگزینی، دیدگاه های متفاوتی از سوی روان شناسان و جامعه شناسان ارائه شده و هر یک از این دیدگاه ها، انتخاب همسر را از منظر خاص خود بررسی کرده اند. بنابراین هدف این پژوهش، که با روش توصیفی- تحلیلی انجام شد، بررسی نظریه همسان همسری، فرضیه همانندی، نظریه نیازهای مکمل و نظریه مبادله معرفی و سپس نقد آنها می باشد. در نقد دیدگاه های مذکور، علاوه بر استفاده از یافته های تجربی، منابع اسلامی  نیز به کار گرفته شده است. به نظر می رسد در دیدگاه اسلامی، بر همسان همسری دینی و هماهنگی در میزان دین داری و نیز برخی خصوصیات اخلاقی از قبیل پاکدامنی تأکید و بر عدم اهمیت ابعاد دیگر همسانی تصریح شده است.},
