Abstract:
Homosexuality, as a sexual orientation, has attempted to gain recognition in recent decades by citing theories such as "naturalness." The theory of "naturalness of homosexuality" claims that this orientation is not the result of deviation or damage, but rather, like heterosexuality, is natural, instinctive, and inevitable. The present study aims to examine and criticize this theory based on scientific, psychological, and religious analysis. The research method is qualitative content analysis of scientific sources in the fields of psychology, biology, moral philosophy, and religious texts. The findings show that the claim that homosexuality is natural faces serious challenges from a scientific, psychological, and religious perspective. From the perspective of psychology and psychiatry, this phenomenon is in many cases the result of traumatic developmental experiences. From the perspective of moral philosophy, naturalness in itself cannot be a criterion of moral correctness; also from a religious perspective, homosexuality is considered a deviation from divine origination and any legitimization of it is in conflict with Islamic teachings.
