Prediction of Religiosity with Regard to the Personality Dimensions in Male and Female Teachers

Abstract:
The present paper tries to expound the relationship between personality dimensions and teachers' religiosity to determine the rate of predicting religiosity through personality dimensions, using a correlation-descriptive method. 274 male and female teachers working in Roodan were selected from a statistical population and a random cluster sampling proportionate to class size was used. They completed a questionnaire on demographical characteristics, religiosity, and personality questionnaires. Statistical methods such as Pearson correlation coefficient and stepwise regression were used for analyzing the data. The research findings show that the relationship of personality dimensions of extraversion, agreeableness, and conscientiousness with religiosity is positive, and neuroticism is negatively related to religiousness. The results of gender differentiated data analysis show that there are similar relationships between male teachers and the teachers in general. However, there is no significant relationship between neuroticism and religiousness among female teachers. The results of regression analysis show that religiosity is positively predicted by dimensions of extraversion, agreeableness, and conscientiousness, and it is negatively predicted by the dimension of neuroticism for all teachers. However, the dimensions of agreeableness and conscientiousness religiosity is predicted to be significant regarding male teachers and only neuroticism regarding female teachers.

Abstract:
این پژوهش، با هدف بیان رابطه‌ی ابعاد شخصیت و دین داری معلمان و تعیین میزان پیش بینی دین داری توسط ابعاد شخصیت، به روش توصیفی همبستگی انجام گرفته است. از میان جامعه آماری یعنی معلمان شاغل در شهرستان رودان، 274 نفر معلم زن و مرد، با روش نمونه گیری خوشه ای تصادفی متناسب با حجم طبقات انتخاب شدند که به پرسش نامه ویژگی های جمعیت شناختی، دین داری و شخصیت پاسخ داده اند. تحلیل داده ها به روش های آماری ضریب همبستگی پیرسون و رگرسیون گام به گام انجام گرفته است. نتایج نشان می دهد که ابعاد شخصیت برون گرایی، توافق و وجدانی بودن با دین داری رابطه‌ی مثبت، و روان رنجورخویی با آن رابطه ای منفی دارد. نتایج تحلیل داده ها به تفکیک جنسیت در معلمان مرد نیز روابطی مشابه با همه معلمان را نشان می دهد. اما در معلمان زن روان رنجورخویی با دین داری رابطه‌ی معناداری نشان نداد. نتایج تحلیل رگرسیون نشان می دهد که ابعاد برون گرایی، توافق و وجدانی بودن در همه معلمان به طور مثبت، و بُعد روان رنجورخویی به صورت منفی، دین داری را پیش بینی می کند. اما در معلمان مرد دو بعد برون گرایی وتوافق، و در معلمان زن فقط وجدانی بودن دین داری را پیش بینی کرده است.
