    Abstract:
This study examined the mediating role of attachment to God in the relationship between psychological distress, psychological well-being, and forgiveness. The statistical population comprised adults in Tehran. A convenience sample of 407 participants (339 females, 68 males; aged 18–57) completed the Demographic Questionnaire, Attachment to God Scale (AGS), Mental Health Inventory (MHI-28), Depression Anxiety Stress Scales (DASS-14), and Heartland Forgiveness Scale (HFS). Data were analyzed using structural equation modeling and Sobel test. Findings indicated forgiveness positively affected mental health and attachment to God; attachment to God also significantly improved mental health. Inverse correlations were observed between mental health and depression, anxiety, and stress. Attachment to God mediated the relationship between forgiveness and mental health. Model fit indices confirmed the structural model’s suitability for mediation and prediction, suggesting that strengthening attachment to God consolidates the link between psychological well-being and forgiveness.
