Abstract:
The purpose of the present study was to determine the role of spiritual health and cognitive distortions in predicting marital compatibility and family cohesion. The research method is descriptive of correlation type. The statistical population included all married students of the Islamic Azad University, Karaj branch in the academic year 2018-2019, of which 120 were selected as the statistical sample using the convenience sampling method. To collect the data, the "family adaptability " and "family cohesion" scales, Spanier's dyadic adjustment scale, the "spiritual health" scale and the "interpersonal cognitive distortions" scale were used. Data analysis was done using Pearson's correlation coefficient test, multiple regression and SPSS statistical software (version 22). The findings show that respectively there is a significant positive and negative relationship between spiritual health and cognitive distortions (and all their components) and marital compatibility and family cohesion, (P < 0.01). Also, the results of the regression analysis showed, respectively, 55.2% and 41.3% of marital compatibility is explained through spiritual health and cognitive distortions (and their components) and 56.1% and 40.5% of family cohesion is explained through spiritual health and cognitive distortions (and their components) (P
