Abstract:
Religious metacognition" is considered one of the important topics in theory and research. Thus, developing a valid and reliable questionnaire to measure this construct is an unavoidable necessity. The present research was conducted with the aim of creating a valid and reliable questionnaire to measure religious metacognition. The research sample includes 512 undergraduate and graduate students (216 men and 296 women) studying at Birjand University. These participants were selected using the "cluster random sampling" method. Based on the theoretical foundations related to the discussion, the initial questionnaire including 30 questions was prepared and implemented. The data were collected using "Religious Metacognition", "Metacognitive Beliefs" and "Religious Commitment" questionnaires. "Exploratory factor analysis" and "Pearson correlation coefficient analysis" were used to analyze the data. The results of the factor analysis confirmed the existence of four main factors in the questionnaire, which include religious metacognitive knowledge about person, task, strategy, and religious metacognitive experience. In addition, the results showed that this questionnaire has divergent and convergent validity. The reliability of the questionnaire was confirmed using "Cronbach's alpha" and "split half" methods. As a result, it can be stated that "Religious Metacognition" questionnaire has the necessary validity and reliability and can be used for the measurement of students' religious metacognition.
