Abstract:
The present research aims to develop a questionnaire for measuring stress coping based on Islamic resources and conduct a preliminary validation study. To this end, a stress coping questionnaire was initially designed based on the theoretical model of stress coping based on Islamic resources (Ebrahimi, Bahrami Ehsan, and Naroui, 2023). Based on the components identified in the previous research and their supporting documentation, 112 items were designed. The Content Validity Index (CVI) was used to assess the content validity of this questionnaire. To this end, the 112 designed items, along with their supporting documentation and codes, were sent to nine experts in the fields of psychology and Islamic studies. After receiving and incorporating the experts’ feedback, a revised questionnaire with 76 questions was developed and administered to a sample of 207 individuals. Factor analysis was used to identify the underlying factors of the questionnaire. Considering the scree plot, which indicated a distinction of five factors, the eigenvalues of five selected factors were considered. This resulted in a 73-item questionnaire with five factors, each having factor loadings above 0/3. These five factors, in total, explained 40.59% of the total variance of the questionnaire. Based on the meaning of the questions within each factor, appropriate names were chosen for each: Spiritual Empowerment, Surrender to Higher Power, Adjustment of Material Desires, Reinterpretation of Happiness, and Situation-Specific Coping.
