Abstract:
The occurrence of chronic physical diseases, such as traumatic brain injury, causes emotional and psychological damage in patients. Thus, we conducted this study to investigate the effectiveness of spiritual therapy on anxiety and pain intensity of patients with traumatic brain injury. The current research method is "quasi-experimental" with a pre-test/post-test design, a control group, and a two-month follow-up period. The statistical population of the current study is patients with traumatic brain injury who referred to "Ayatollah Kashani" hospital in Isfahan in the three months of 2019 fall. Thirty patients with traumatic brain injury were selected in this research, by "purposive sampling" method, and were randomly assigned to experimental and control groups (15 patients in each group). The experimental group received spiritual therapy in eight sessions during one month. After the intervention, three patients in the experimental group and two patients in the control group withdrew from the study. The questionnaires used in this research includes "anxiety" (Beck et al., 1988) and pain perception (Melzack, 1997) questionnaires. The data obtained from the research is analyzed by "variance analysis" method with repeated measurements.
